Humidity and Heretics with Jay Bakker

On June 8th, Zeteo will host Jay at Molly’s Pub (509 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002) at 6:00 p.m.  Jay will speak about his journey and be available for questions.  A $10 cover charge is requested to help defray expenses of the weekend.

On June 9th, Zeteo will have its monthly worship gathering with Jay Bakker serving as the guest speaker for the evening.  The night will involve some of Zeteo’s unique worship concepts, such as prayer stations and unusual song choices.  The service begins at 5:30 p.m. and is held in the gym at First Christian Church Houston (1601 Sunset, Houston, Texas 77005).

Jay Bakker is the son of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, who were world famous televangelists in the 1980s.  Upon the rise and fall of his parents’ fame, Jay’s life journey took a number of unexpected paths—from dropping out of high school, alcohol and substance abuse, abandoning his faith, to starting churches in bars and being a vocal straight ally of LBBTQ community.  In fact, Jay was awarded the 2012 PFLAG Straight for Equality in Faith Communities award.  Jay describes himself as “a grace enthusiast, a dyslexic introverted pessimist, and a prisoner of hope.”  Jay recently released his latest book, “Faith, Doubt, and Other Lines I’ve Crossed: Walking with the Unknown God.”  Jay is a co-pastor of Revolution Church.  More information about Jay can be found at www.jaybakker.com and www.revolutionnyc.com.
